Cay Tre

A few days ago, I visited Cay Tre in Soho, London for dinner with my friends. This modern trendy Vietnamese restaurant delivers authentic flavours in a jovial sophisticated atmosphere- follow the jump for the whole review.

Danji- NYC

Danji is a fabulous little place serving Korean tapas in midtown New York. Korean tapas are certainly not two words you would expect to hear together, but it works wonderfully at Danji and it would be a great place to go for a first date due to its warm, intimate atmosphere. (not that I would know, I went with my whole family and we ate awkwardly amongst romantic diners.)

FOTD # 4

Two foodporns for the price of one!

These dishes are from Roux at the Landau, which I visited for my birthday in January earlier this year. The top photo is a bitter chocolate layered cake, and the bottom a scallop dish of some kind? I can't remember exactly what it was.

This was my second time at Roux at the Landau and I remember thinking that the standard had dropped slightly food-wise...but that's for another blog post.

Ambience is beautiful: however if you do go for any reason, make it the bread and butter they circle around your table with. My god.

Roka

Anyone who knows me will know my obsession with Japanese food- and Roka has got to be one of my favourite places to go to when I need my craving satisfied.

Wagyu gunkan sushi with oscietra caviar, spring onion and ginger

FOTD # 3

Today's foodporn is from Tao, a pan-asian restaurant in NYC.

I believe the two dishes here are tuna tartare and black cod skewers. The food was varied and authentic, but the nightclub-like atmosphere was slightly too overwhelming for a jet lagged, grumpy teenager. Also, our reservation was delayed for 45 minutes which is a foolproof way of putting me in a foul mood...

The food is very good but pricey- we inadvertently spent $250 that night!

FOTD # 2

Today's foodporn is from the lovely Comptoir Libanais, in London's South Kensington.

Potato perfection

These warm chunks of potato have a crispy skin and fluffy interior, tossed with coriander, chilli and garlic.

Shake Shack- NYC

Pinch yourself...no you're not dreaming

If you've got one stop to make in New York, make it this. This brilliant gem of a modern-day burger stand in Madison Square Park creates THE BEST milkshakes and burgers known to man, no joke...

Luke's Lobster- NYC

image

A haven for seafood lovers, this unassuming shop in NYC is my new favourite food-on-the-go stop. (well, it would be if I lived in NYC) Follow the jump for more saliva-inducing pictures...

FOTD # 1

My first "Foodporn of the Day" post- here it is!

Crusty floury italian bread base with juicy cherry tomatoes, pesto and aromatic basil...a worthy pick.

The Red Pepper, Maida Vale, London

Chino Latino

"Kani kani" soft shell crab and avocado nigiri sushi

I went to this Asian-fusion restaurant for my mum's birthday in January this year- although it may seem a bit far out near Vauxhall (in London) the food is definitely worth going out there and sampling.

Jaleo- Washington DC

Endibias Con Queso De Cabra Y Naranjas

When I was in Washington DC visiting friends, they took me to this insanely good Spanish tapas restaurant called Jaleo. It’s a chain run by the infamous Jose Andres, and one meal here was enough to boost Spanish cuisine from “oh-its-just-paella” to a new favourite of mine.

BiBimBap

I know what most of you are thinking: what on earth is a “bibimbap”?! Read on to find out...

Koya

It’s not hard to spot Koya, despite its neutral-toned exterior- a long queue frequently winds down from its door and spills onto the street, and I can certainly see why...

Nam

Located on the corner of Dean Street, this unsung hero championing Vietnamese street food is a fast and healthy option for the hungry time-conscious diner looking for bowls of steaming hot silky ribbons of pho, or refreshing vermicelli salad.

Hummus Bros

“Give (Chick) Peas a Chance” is the extremely befitting slogan for this gem of a snack bar tucked away in Soho- if you haven’t eaten here before, you can’t form a negative opinion on hummus just yet.
